Default Strange THUD

I dont know why but recently, I have been turning off my car and about 30 seconds after I kill the ignition there is a "THUD" that comes from the front left fender? I can actually feel the thud faintly too from the driver's seat. ALSO, the other say it did it while I was sitting at a stoplight!! What the heck!

I have no idea what this is but, I have noticed that when its extremely cold outside and my car has sat outside overnight and things on my car freeze, I will go to back up and I hear "CRUNCH CRUNCH" like its ripping something from the front left fender as I am backing up, then it stops very soon afterward. I don't know how to describe what it was like as I was backing up, but something was definitely holding my car back, until it "ripped"

That's odd. If it's a frozen fluid it would have to be water, assuming your car is properly maintained, it would have to be water from outside the vehicle. tomorrow morning stick your hand up into the front fender and poke around.

The only accessorie over there is the power steering pump, or the booster, if you lost that much hydraulic fluid you would know it.

Check the lower radiator hose, and maybe the washer fluid res? I know its common for those to come loose because they are held on by 2 screws...

Check your motor mounts. The "THUD" is probably from the engine rocking back and forth after you shut it off.

Sorry, I just get a lot of those kind of comments on this board lately.

I don't know what the chances are that it is the motor mounts because I just had a new long block installed in my car about 5,000 miles ago. I know the mechanic that put the motor in, and he's good. I guess I'll check that out though.
