Unhappy Dashboard Removal

Hey whats up im having problems getting my dashboard out. I have a 99 gt my heater core broke so im trying to replace it but according to the haynes manual my dash has to come out. I did everything that it tells you to do but i still cant get the dash out im not sure what im doing wrong. There is one thing im not sure if your familiar with the repair manual but it says "REMOVE TWO BOLTS(ONE ARROWED) SECURING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL" Im not sure if i found the other bolt. The passenger side and center are loose its just the drivers side. Help please car is torn apart right now.

I don't envy you one bit. I've done two heater cores like that, but not on a mustang. Just be patient and keep track of all the little bolts. Get a feel for how lose it is. It might just be a wire harness that keeps it from moving further. If it still feels really solid it prob will be a bigger bolt. Did you check to see if you would have to unbolt the steering column? More than likely you prob will have to. My approach to it was just unbolt everything I could, just keep track of it all. Haynes was useless for me. No joke.. it told me it was like 4 steps. (remove heater core mounting bolts; instalation is reverse of removal) what a crock of ish!

the steering coluum for sure has to be removed (unbolted and laid in the seat).

I suggest you get a really good light and just start going over it and you'll eventually get it.

Haynes are ok but you really need alldata or mitchell and even then sometimes they arent the greatest.

The mustangs not too bad try one on a TAUR-*** those are a PITA.

Kinda OT, but I totally disagree with you there, the Taurus is cake compared to a Mustang.

For the OP, Did you get the 10mm bolts out of the sides? There should be 2 or 4 10mm bolts in the door jam area that are the main bolts for the dash, then a couple screws up by the window. Also, there might be some support screws behind the air bag, behind the instrument cluster, and towards the bottom of the dash by the radio tray. I'll look into when I get a chance here at work with the Ford manual
