Default Supercharging 10:1

After a PI swap, is it safe to put on a kenne bell blower? Maybe only run 6-8 psi?

From what I understand, the safety of a blower all lies in the tune. You can zorch your engine with low boost and a crappy tune. You can also run 10 psi on the same engine with a good tune. Just make sure you get the car tuned by someone reputable and you will be fine (after the install).

Actually the tune isnt all you need. Unfortunatly the weak link is the rods in our engines. They wont take any abuse over 10 psi with a good tune. We are currently replacing our friends Saleen motor because of too much boost on a 2V and he was running 10 psi and a very conserative tune.

What was his RWHP with the 10 psi and the conservative tune?

I think he made like 360 hp... give or take 10. That was tuned by Strictly Performance in Houston.

I have read dozens of posts over the the MPH forums of people running 10 psi and 360 - 400 rwhp on stock bottom ends without engine failure. I also read that you should limit use of stock rods to engines of 450 hp or less. With the 360 at the rear wheels, he should have been ok, but I guess anything is possible.

I am getting a Vortech and a powerpipe from MPH and I have a stock bottom end. At some point I will rebuild the bottom with forged internals though. Better safe than sorry and if I get a wild hair up my *** to go for even more HP, I can do it.
