What are the big differences between the GT and Cobra motors (both 4.6) besides the heads/intake? I didn't think that the internals would be different, and would be as simple as swapping heads/intake and computer (strictly for motor upgrade). Isn't that the same as the Mach1 and Bullit editions, GT with Cobra engine?
Does anyone make 32 valve heads to replace the 16 valve heads on stock GT, and is that worth the price ?
I've been looking to do the same thing, but wouldn't know the first place to start.
you can swap the heads, and intake, but then you will also need the front timing cover off a 4 valve motor, some old lincoln mark 8s hade a 4v in them , spark plug wires too

the problem with that is most people with cobra's for sale have beat them to death, and still want 20-30k. I can get a used 00-02 GT 5spd for under 10k easy, and (maybe) spend less than 10k modding and upgrading to build a Cobra. Then you've got a (mock) Cobra with mostly new parts.

Then again, if its just for performance, a suspension kit and a S/C would be around 5k, and as long as the motor is in good condition, you're set.

Does anyone have an answer to my question though? Are there any other differences to the motor besides the heads/intake of GT / Cobra / Bullit / Mach1 ..??

I want to do that same thing... I want to use the short block from my GT and put some 4v heads and intake manifold on it. It beats buying a ported 2v head when the stock 4v heads flow so much more than them. Also beats buying a billet or another manifold for a GT.

I know the block configuration is the same so I think all you would need is the heads, cams, intake manifold, TB, timing cover and wiring harness.

I dont understand why people who spend money on putting PI heads or SVO heads on there GT when they can just pt 4v heads. Sure you have to buy cams and an intake too, but most people change the stock GT's anyways.
