Oil Pan Gasket Change

Oil Pan Gasket Change
I dropped the transmission on my car today to put in a new clutch and it was leaking from the front of it. While it is out I thought it would be a good idea to also replace the rear main oil seal.
I was wondering about the oil pan gasket. Is it possible for me to change that without undoing the motor mounts and raising the engine? It looks like there might be just enough room to slide it out and slide it back in with a new gasket.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

You can unbolt the motor mounts and lift the engine up enough to get the pan loose and enough room to install a new one.
I suggest you buy the one peice from the explorer. They make installation much easier than the older cork. Not to mention they last longer and prevent stupid little leaks.
If you need to remove the pan entirely unbolt the steering rack and lower it that will give you enough room to slide it out or in.Just did the same on a buddys 88 when i replaced the bearrings in the lower end for him.

People who never took apart a 4.6 should not give advice.
The stock oil pan gasket is a solid plastic piece with a rubber gasket in it. You can not raise the engine enough to get the pan out around the oil pickup tube. Like I said before you have to either pull the engine or drop the K.

No she isn't running good enough to drive out there. I'm just taking it to the gas station since I lost half a tank of gas when I pulled my a1000 pump off. I'm going to speedy dyno on the 31st. Greg sent me my tuner with 3 tunes and the car runs much better now.
