Default PI intake manifold

Before I go drilling and tapping the hole for my 2nd sensor the guide says this

Tap PI intake - 3/8-18 NPSF with Pipe Thread. Same tap as passenger side coolant sensor.

Does that mean drill a 3/8 hole with a bit, then use a 18NPSF(size of tap) on the whole to get the threads?

Just need a little reinsurance before I go out and do this

I think you should drill it a little smaller than 3/8...not sure though

do you only have to start drilling on the pi intake if your doing a pi swap only? or do i have to drill if im going to change mine for the one with aluminum crossover?

i just did this a few weeks ago, once you get the tap, you'll see you need a 9/16 drill bit, easiest thing to do is to see which drill bit will fit inside your already drilled sensor hole, im about 95% sure its 9/16 becuase my set only when up to 1/2 and i had to go out and buy that one. You want to go as large as you can without messing up the treads so check with the other one frist before you drill

Did you not have an upgraded npi intake with the aluminum crossover? If you did just swap them and no drilling/tapping necessary. If not the drill will be smaller than the tap, you can do as stangalator says and get one that fits the other hole.

Ive never heard of swapping the aluminum part wouldnt that be to much work? I have the upgraded NPI manifold and the drill bits just need a tap.
