Hey man if you're gonna do it, do it right no shortcuts especially when dealing with internals.

the choice between nitro and cams would be really up to you just weigh out the pros and cons for both. but rember theres more to buy for nitrous than just a kit from american muscle or any where else you need presure gauge, and window switch, i noticed you were in va so youll want a bottle heater, and you also take a greater risk on blowning motor if not careful, BUT say youll spend around a grand for a good safe nitro kit and make 100hp
now if you spend 600 bones for the cams and make around 35-40 hp tops but not as much risk. so its all on how you feel about it. to be honest i just bought the zex kit and i am going with cushmanmotorsports cams but its your car and you do what you want to either way you go i feel you will be happy. good luck. but as mentioned above i would have it checked out if your car dies out above 5100.

Well I have talked to the guys at Hi-Tech and what I was told is if its going to be a street/strip car, then it doesn't need the springs. Also those cams work really well with nitrous and to make installation a snap here is this tool http://www.andersonfordmotorsport.com/ no re timing is required you just slide the old cam out out and slide the new cam in. There is a little play in the key way slot (affecting timing degrees) but not enough to effect a street/strip car.

wow so valve springs arent required?

i tried doing a search to see if many people would still recomend getting them but couldnt really find anything. on stock valve springs without going over red line what could potentially happen? what are the odds?

and ide say using a 97 ecu on the 01 engine is probably a factor seeing as how the 01 is PI and the 97 isnt. but ::shrugs::
