Because it makes the auto tranny shift faster & harder (& at higher rpm?) yea I guess your 1/4 miles times should improve a bit.

Does anyone still make manual valve bodies for late model auto trannies? They were popular years ago, & turned your auto into a semi-auto.

I was thinking about a shift kit at one time, but ended getting the predator which can do about the same thing plus it give you noticable horsepower gains at the same time, plus you can change your shift point. It is $400 though, but worth in my mind.

what is the best brand and price range?? Can i install it myself. i installed my intake,TB and plenum myself is it harder than any of that?

I wouldn't suggest installing it yourself. Improper installation will lead to a dead tranny.

I also have the predator which I used to modify the shift points and pressure. After putting in the shift kit, what the predator did was like nothing compared to the shift kit. I have used the predator to up my shift pressure with the shift kit in and it shifts like a mother!!!! When I ran it down the 1/8 mile it was spinning good from 1-2 and then it was chriping the tires right as I crossed the trap shifting from 2-3. Get a shift kit you will love it!!! I would also suggest that you put a trans cooler on too. I did and my trans runs a lot cooler unless I am sitting in stop and go traffic, but once I get moveing it drops to around 180 Deg. or so and when I run it on the highway it will be down areound 160 or so.
