how much horsepower would a stock 1996-1998 Mustang GT have and how much horsepower would be coming at the rear wheels?

If you have an automatic, it'll have considerably less at the wheels. Automatics have more parasitic loss than manuals, and Ford AODEs are even worse than the norm. Figure 170-175hp at the wheels for a stock AODE 96-97, and 175-180hp at the wheels for a stock AODE '98<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

20% for autos from the crank to the wheels. 15% for manuals

Those are all just general %'s. It will vary depending on the drivetrain and wear and tear and even the fluid types used. Everything sounds right.
