Default Pulling the engine...question.

Hey guys im getting ready to start on my project (forged sb, heads, cams) once my shortblock arrives and i was wondering whats a better way to pull the engine out. Im gonna do it at the hobby shop on base so i will have a lift to use. The thing is that the guy working at the place told me that on these modulars u can only drop the engine after removing the K member, but in the online ford manual it says to lift it out from the top. So how have u guys done this, for those who have? And if u have any other pointers, im all ears! Thanks

Dave

Most people pull them from the top, it has pretty good clearance. You can drop it from the bottom if you want.

awesome, now i want to drop the tranny first, the way my tuner did it before when he installed the clutch, he just took the driveshaft off and put a rubber glove at the back end of the tranny and just put a rubber band over it ot hold it there. Do u think thats a decent way to plug it up in order not to lose any tranny fluid. Or is the fluid on manuals not going to leak out? The reason im asking is cause i tried to do the same thing on my buddy's blazer auto and the fluid started flowing out of it instantly. thanks again

If you have a lift, then dropping it from the bottom is much easier. It come out the top without issue, but with a lift, it's definitely easier from the bottom.

Because I don't have access to a lift I have always pulled the engine out the top. But I have heard with a lift it's a snap to get it out the bottom.
