What you describe sounds like someone changed the differential fluid and did not add friction modifer, or did not use synthetic fluid (which is slippery enough to not need FM).

well 4.10's are looking good for this summer so I might not worry about it til than.

It doesnt happen on the short 10-15 minute drives to/from work. Only if I am driving fro a good 20-30 minutes straight. Than once I am pulling into the parking lot as I turn, it makes the sound.

One way I guess to describe it would be like 'bending metal'. And it makes the creak sound as it bends. That is just abuot how it sounds.

Never thought about the Clutch. it seems to come from the rear, and it happens whether clutch in or out..i think...i'll have to check that to. See if whether clutch is engaged/disengaged has an effect on it.

Whoa, not to hijack the thread but are you saying that if you use a non-synthetic gear oil you have to add a friction modifier? I recently did my diff and used conventional 80w-90, should I have added something else?

If you have a Traction Lock rear-end (most GTs do) then the answer is yes, you need to add 4 ounces of friction modifier--this make the oil slipperier, to prevent the LSD clutch packs from binding.

Well, better put that on the Spring "to do" list. Thanks Cliff.
