Default SLP2's?

I am thinking of SLP2's CATS...

1. What is the limiting the performance more ... the stock cat back mufflers or the Cats?
2. Is anyone running the SLP muffler? Do you have a clip?
3. Apperently the 1998 GT is an oddity as Magnaflow's are not an option for this year?????
3. Where is the cheepest place to get them?????????????

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...40&cat=Mustang

Look at the bottow of the page

The limiting factor on mustangs in the midpipe, the factory catback is slightly part of it but you get more out of the midpipe

How does one define "midpipe"? I assume its the cats and the cat pipe?? Called the "midpipe" as between the cat back assembly/muffler and the header/exaust manafolds.

If this is true and if the above is true (that the mid-pipe cats are the limiting performance factor in the exaust) then would it not be better to replace the midpipe/cats instead of the cat backs if I could only afford one mod? Performace wise?

I have SLP Catted X (midpipe) and SLP LM II's - no sound clip (sorry!), and no complaints!

<edit> Very "racy" sound/tone FYI.

The midpipe starts after your exahust manifold or headers and ends after your cats and before your mufflers. So my exhaust looks like this:

OEM exhaust manifolds (not headers)--> MAC Pro-Chamber mid pipe --> Magnaflow cat-back

Your midpipe is the most restrictive because it contains skinny pipes and cats (probably 4 cats total). The OEM exhaust is kinda skinny, has non-mandrel bends and chambered mufflers but I don't think that's as restrictive as the cats.
