Default i need some insight

Hi, i own a 2000 V6 Mustang, i loved the car when i got it i've had it for a few months, i've already got a CAI and dual exhausts installed however a month or two ago i had a GT roll up next to me and it sounded astounding.

We took off as soon as the light turned green and since that day i've wanted a GT but my budget doesnt permit buying a completely new car so i spoke to my father who is a master mechanic and he told me that its possible to do an engine swap from my 3.8L V6 to a 4.6L V8.

He also told me if i were to go this route he would do the swap for nothing because im his son and all, long story i know.

But today i went to a local junkyard called Rusty Acres, i tryed to see if they would sell me a junked Mustang GT around my same year, they couldnt sell me the car but the owner made me a deal since the car had not yet been dismantled.

2500$ total for everything i need to swap the engine into my car it includes..

Engine/Transmission/rear end and the smaller stuff like mounting brackets etc

he also said if i were to bring in my old V6 parts he would reimburse me the 500$ so it would end up being close to 2000$

i was just wondering, is that a good price for the engine and everything else necessary?

btw the engine has 130k miles on it but it just so happens to be the only GT they have in that isnt stripped yet they told me they could get me an engine with lower mileage from a crown vic but im not sure everything is the same as the mustang any ideas?

what do you guys think?

oh! and also the wrecked GT is manual my V6 is automatic would making the necessary conversions to the body for the 3rd pedal to fit be hard or making it suitable to be manual be very hard?

hopefully you guys can give me some insight!

thanks

2k isnt to bad since you are getting all the parts you need, i see stock gt engines for about a $800-1100 on ebay. the mileage is a bit high so maybe you could talk him down. either way you might want to do a compression test and possible pull the heads off and give them a port and valve job. as far as making it a manual, just get all the parts of the gt ie pedal, clutch cable, brackets, ect. so do your homework on the swap. as for the rear end that should be easy. the tranny, get the drive shaft and tranny cross member too. good luck on your swap.

Remember also, you'll need to swap the column and dash as well due to the PATS system.
