Default Ideal Shift Points

What I was planning on doing was adjusting the shift points on my 4 spd auto. It is mildly modified. CAI, 75mmTB, Plenium, Catback. What rpm ranges should I be looking at getting through the gears. Also, what about firmness? I know the best way would be to get a dyno and do it that way, but I don't plan on having the car dyno'd until mid to late summer after some more mods are done.

the best time to shift is after the car moves in the direction you want and before it blows up

... probably 5800-6200.

Well, depending on how much power your putting out, i wouldn't change the firmness to much. I blow up 2nd gear. I find that the best way to get a good 1st to 2nd shift is to put the car into 2nd and start from a stop. Watch the RPMS and see where the car starts to pull harder. Then using the gear ratios (2.84, 1.56,1 ,.7) set redline in first so it will then land 2nd gears rpms on that power band. With my car I leave redline at 5500 because it pulls harder at about 3200 which is where it lands when it shifts to 2nd. I hope that help and didn't confuse you.
