Thieves tried to break into my car and busted the door lock
Several weeks ago my car battery died after I left the lights on all day. When I tried to open the car door with my key, I realized that the door lock was broken. Since I normally use the wireless entry button on my keyring, I hadn't noticed this before, so it must have been 1-3 months since it broke. The guy who came to open my door and jump the car looked at the lock and told me someone obviously tried to jack the car, breaking the lock in the process.
When I put my key in, the lock won't turn. Also, if I push down on the key, the lock pops out a bit from the door. Unfortunately, I can now open the lock by wiggling the key up and down in the lock, so I need to repair the lock assembly ASAP.
Does anyone know where I can buy a new lock assembly for a 2003 Mustang, or do I need to take it into the shop? I doubt that my insurance company will cover this.

i actually had this same thing happen to me recently, Only they tried to pry the door lock out by pressing a screwdriver directly under the lock and trying to wedge it out. They failed, however, my door lock no longer worked.
If you have insurance that covers "vandalism" you should be able to get it covered. That's how I got mine fixed. Took it to the local ford dealership, and it ended up totaling around ~$500 for new lock, replace damaged door (basically cut a small square out and welded a new one in), and a repaint to blend new repair in so you would never know they replaced it.
