Mustang death?!

In about an hour or so I'm gonna inspect the car some more and see what I can find with my friend. I'll give the oil check a shot.
I found a saleen romeo block in the area really cheap ($250, piston #4 is broken). If the engine is broken, would that be a good purchase to get me back up and running? Are pistons expensive to buy/repair?

Im telling you, the oil is probably fine... Thats a compression leak sound. So either you shot a plug out (which Im like 90% sure from that video you did) or somehow blew the head gasket...
Why are you looking at shortblocks?? Worst case scenario is your going to need ONE head, not a whole motor.

as for the saleen block, im not going to pretend i even know what a romeo block is as apposed to your reg mod motor block. but i do know how much it cost to rebuild and install.
and if your motors bad and the saleen threw a rod yours is probabably the most use able out of the 2. broken rods crack blocks.a rebuild on either will be around 1000 or more and another 500-900 to get the motor installed if you dont do your own work. but find out whats up with your motor first!

thats exactly what im thinking......hell you might as well go looking for a 5.4 navigator engine now if your going to swap the motor for a blown plug......

Well since you just got done floggin out it, im at loss... If its not a plug then pull the valve covers off and see if something is broken. If you spun a bearing or something then it wont run to long, so in that sense youll know soon if you need a new motor

Exactly, seems like a head problem... Oil is fine and spark plug was still nestled in there. The coil and whatever else holds it is broken, so I'm gonna need a new one of those too to test the new spark plug. Plus, I need an extension for the wrench to reach the spark plug, so I'm gonna have to get those two things tomorrow.
I had the engine in mind because from what I heard the possibility also existed for rod bearing/rods/pistons/valves being messed up. Should I be able to find a stock head under $500?

i agree, that sounds soooo like a blown plug, the sound of a piston pumping air out of a whole the size of a quarter. And a broken coil? broken where the plug forced it away from the block perhaps?
experiment: grab your lawn mower, pull the plug, and crank the p#uker, you will hear the same sound, although not as loud

Just so that i know exactly what you guys are talking about.. I blew a spark plug, which means it came off the socket and into the head? What sucks is that most of the spark plugs on the left side are difficult to get to 'cause the intake manifold is in the way and all that. Oh and the coil is broken where the bolt holds it down.
