Default New Member And What Should I Do?(96 GT)

Hey everyone! My names Vincent and I just bought my 96 Mustang GT. And its funny cause i used to be into Hondas and after having this car i will never own one again! :| But anyway, my car has a Stock 4.6L engine, all that i have for it is a K&N Filter on it. Now one of my questions is what gears!? There is so Much Contrivery over that stuff, but i have heard a lot that i should put some 3.73's in it. I am just looking for a straight up answer for my needs. For the record im not looking to build a 10 second car, just want some extra UMP from stoplight to stoplight. Also what else can I add? So far after reading up i have in mind to get:
1-Gears
2-Intake
3-70MM Throttle Body
4-X-Pipe With Flowmaster
Just to get some input sense im new to Mustangism, is that a good start to get my pony goin? Or is there other things i should do? Oh ya, just like most people i do have a somewhat tight budget. Thanks!

Pretty much all the information you need is here on this forum, and that may be why you haven't gotten any responses yet. Read around, you will learn alot.

As for your question... Do you have an automatic or 5 speed?

1. 5 speed, I'd recommend 3.73, auto 4.10

Thats the most UMPH off the line there...

2. By intake do you mean air intake, upper intake, or lower intake?
3. Throttle body isn't a bad idea. Will mean more down the road
4. Xpipe and Flows are a great idea.

Also Consider:
1. Computer programming (Hypertech, JETChip)
2. MSD Coils and MSD wires
3. Headers
4. Suspension

Go ahead, if you haven't already, and do a full tune up on it. Spark plugs (Motorcraft), fuel filer, ect... That would be my first move.

Welcome BlackBomberGT as the previos post says, most of tht info can be found on the stickys on the forum threads.

Anyways keep in mind that if youve got an auto tranny and want to put some gears on it, youre gonna have to readjust the shift points or else youre gonna bust up the tranny!!!

The best thing would be to buy a tuner along with the gears, youre gonna need it down the road anyways.

gears always make for a fun ride, 3:73s if your auto, 3:90s/4:10s if your m5. for the 2vs, exhaust is exhaust is exhaust. the only difference is sound. if you have enough money go with LTs, either X or H (catted or not) and whatever catback you like. If not then start with a catback and work your way up. intakes are useless, they are simply for looks, but t/b and plenums do add some snap to your throttle along with maybe like 2 hp. suspension will help it ride better. do a lil searching, there are plenty of threads about suspension setups. id also recomend a clutch for the future, check into ram/spec/king cobra b/c they seem to be the best for the money. most of the guys on this forum are pretty knowledgeable so just ask if you need more help.

GEARS!!!!!
I have a 5 speed and would never change out my 4:10s. Pulls like a mother and is fun to drive!

It will be the biggest bang for your buck.

You will need to spend 2k+ for any combo of anything else that will make you actually notice a power difference

Ok thanks guys, and by the way i have a 5speed and by intake i mean upper intake. And see im getting two answers 3.73's for manual and then we got someone that sayd 4.10's for manual. I heard 4.10's arnt good if its a daily driver and on the highway. I need to know the facts, perferably from someone with a Mustang.
