^ I ran 5 quarts in my '85 GT for 20+ years and over 100K, no probs. I cannot say if there is a big or even any difference in the oil volume required for either.
As long as the dipstick is at full marker, a DD ride is going to have zero issues with oil starvation and is the OP's original question. Not being a richard-head, but this thread has gone WAY past the original question as sooooo many threads tend to do on here
