Default 4.6 engine block question

I have a a 1998 back engine sitting in my basement, the motor ran decent when it was pulled and did not smoke or anything. I was planning on tearing it down to the bare block and building that motor a little bit at a time. I was told that the block is the same as my 04 gt motor currently in my car, is this true and is there any reasons why I should not use that block.

This is true. Should be the same Romeo block that is in your 04.

There is only one minor difference. The webbing in the block is thicker in the 96-98 compared to the 01.5-04. Meaning that it will have to be clearanced inorder to put a cobra crank in it. Same thing with windsor blocks.

Thanks for the info, I want to use the old block so I can slowly build it over time and not have to put my car out of commission for any time.
