Unhappy Royal Purple Max ATF in Auto 3650 Transmission?

SO I've got about 13 quarts of this stuff with a new filter sitting here ready to do some transmission maintenance. Only reason i brought it was because the Mechanic i talked to swore by it to fix the common "Shudder" problem auto 3650 have with the torque converter clutch. He even went so far as to use it exclusively only in his terminator. However I wanted to second opinion it on the forums and it's not looking pretty at all. People are saying to avoid it due to being a full synthetic and that it will fubar the synchros. If that's the case what should i use. I know a Mercon/Dexron III is what's recommended by Tremec, but what else is out there?

Please enlighten me. I just searched through 20 pages and have not found that right answer. I'm about to tear my hair out and sell the gt! LOL. Get a high mileage corvette; they don't seem to have problems, lol.

Thanks Again MF! You all have always been my #1 resource.

I say you need to find another more competent mechanic from whom to get your advice--there's no such thing as an "Auto 3650"...

The automatic used in Mustangs is a Ford 4R70W, I do not know who actually makes it.

The Tremec 3650 is a 5-speed manual transmission, which certainly does NOT have any "torque converter clutch[es]" in it.

Synthetic ATF will not hurt the 3650 synchro rings--in fact, Tremec recommends Mobil 1 synthetic ATF for the 3650...

lol that's why I'm glad i have people like you on here. I am learning A-LOT! lol. I always thought I had the tremec 3650, but that they offered an automatic and a standard version. Okay so my transmission is a 4r70w. I'm assuming since you say it's fine, for the tremec 3650, I should be looking good to just go ahead and change all the oil out, with the Royal Purple?

if you have an auto then you have a 4R70W. Any ATF with mercon V will work, synthetic ATF will be a bit better.

The RP Max ATF is fine, arguably overkill for the OEM slushbox--stop wringing you hands and get that juice changed...
