shave heads, PTV issues?
ok guys, pi heads, wanna shave them, put em on my 96, w/ CMS stage 2 cams. can i shave them to bump up compression, (not planning on going fi) or should i not shave them? and if i do shave them anyone know how much i could safely go and then also possibly what cam i can get for lift and duration so i dont have PTV issues
Do not shave the heads...only if they need resurfacing. And then, only minimally. The more material you take off, the more slop in the timing chains, etc. You will already be getting a healthy compression increase just going to the smaller chamber of the PI head. The Stage 2's will be fine for PTV...the Stage 2.5 are a little much and will need to be checked for PTV because it is VERY VERY close. Notching may be needed with the 2.5's.
