Default '00 GT Auto transmission winding?

A bit of a backstory:

Florida born and raised, recently moved to Spain. Had my baby shipped to Belgium, but a load of issues, moved back to the states, left the car in storage in Belgium for 2 years roughly, and finally came back.

Week ago, I finally got her down here. Had the spare time to change the oil, oil filter, spark plugs are ok but still waiting on a shipment (platinum plugs that fit the car are VERY hard to find here) before I change em, rear brakes changed, but I haven't gotten the chance to change the transmission fluid.

Now, yesterday I noticed a winding up sound in the tranny as I accelerated before she would shift gears (gears shifted fine, except for overdrive, that was a bit slow to upshift to), so while conventional wisdom says that I should just change the fluid and filter, a part of me is still saying that I shouldn't drive her until thats done which I won't have time for for probably another 3 or 4 days.

Just asking for a little heads up? Anything to really lose sleep about?
