If the helicoil won't fix it then I agree with you. Go to a salvage yard and find a low mileage motor. If its within your budget you might even get a low mileage 3v and get the conversion kit.

Well its time to decide right now if its worth fixing the head, or just replacing the whole motor. How much $$ you're willing to spend will determine this.

Thats the cheap way out.

However considering your mileage, I'd look into finding a used low mileage motor.

Depends are you going to Fix the Head your Self? Install the motor by yourself?

The Price in Labor your going to Get Charged you can probably get a used motor.. And swapping motors in our cars are CAKE....

Where do you live Liljojo..... (are u a girl? isnt she a singer?)

Just helicoil/timesert it. You can buy it at autozone. It's very easy to do.

The kit comes with a drill bit, tap and helicoil. make sure both valves are closed in that cylinder. Just drill out the hole, grease up the tap and slowly tap the hole, install the helicoil, break off tab, do your best to vacuum out the cylinder install sparkplug and torque it to 13ft lbs. Don't worry if you can't get all the aluminum shavings out of the cylinder. Aluminum will leave the exhaust after the first few rotations and aluminum will not scratch the walls.

I'm stunned to learn that you can do this without removing the cylinder head. That's really incredible... good luck with your fix jojo!

Your lucky it's number 2 cylinder so it's very easy to get to and you don't have to pull the head. I had to fix #4 cylinder on a lightning. I had to pull the head to get to that one and it was a bitch.
