Default Torque Converter Write Ups?

Hey guys

Any info on installing a torque converter will be greatly appreciated, either your own experience or links to anything at all.

Thanks a lot.

I just started researching this topic as well. I posted a thread and got only a few responses. A bunch of vendors and the prices vary. The only negative thing I heard was that TCI had a bad rap from some. I am interested in this topic as well. Good luck.

Try and find a write up for replacing the clutch, it's basically the same.

The only differences is there should be a plate you can remove to gain access to the flywheel. You'll need to turn the flywheel with a screwdriver or something to gain access to each of the torque converter bolts/nuts (not sure what these cars use). Other than that it's the same as removing a manual tranny. Take off the mid pipe, driveshaft, starter, crossmember, then let the tranny hang down a bit and lean the motor back to access the top bolts on the bellhousing with a long *** extension and a swivel.

Just remember, a manual tranny most people can lift. It's heavy, but liftable. Automatics are ****ing heavy. Get a tranny jack or something. There's no way you and a buddy are lifting it, especially on your backs if you're doing it on jackstands.
