TCI Streetfighter ratchet shifter YES or NO!
Can someone help me with the details on this shifter? Is it a good purchase in the way of getting good performance for the money? How is it different from the stock automatic transmisson shifter? TCI has a video on the use and installation of this shifter, and it shows the driver ratchet shifting in performance driving as well as cruising in just "D" drive. What and how does this shifter work with the ratchet motion?
I am looking to purhase this shifter in the next few days, but I wanted to gather any information and replies from you all first.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you,
Keith

I have a buddy with it in his ranger, he loves it. As far as i understand it, basically it is converting the "automatic" valvebody into a manually selectable setup so that you may choose gears as you would a stick car. I would definitely grab a higher stall converter, say a 3200 while you're at it. And it wouldnt be a bad idea to get a tranny cooler as well. The poor efficiency at low rpms of the higher stall converter causes excess heat and its rough on the transmission for sure.
