Fuel Line Problem

Fuel Line Problem
I was trying to splice into the fuel line section right before the fuel rail on my 02 GT. After I did it I noticed its not regular fuel hose, its some sort of plastic lined rubber hose that was custom made for this (Motorcraft part # KFL63).
Well anyway, I can't get my T fitting in since the inner plastic really isn't malleable, and I don't think its intended for this regular fittings anyway.
So my question is, I either order this whole section including the regulator that's in there from my local dealer for about $110 and wait a week, or can I just replace the section I cut (from the little regulator down to the metal undercarriage line) with regular fuel hose and have it be safe?
---UPDATE---
Ok so I got the line out finally, the connections on both ends were just regular fittings. Now they were way stretched out, way more than I could do when I was trying to splice. So maybe they heat them at the factory to get the seal they need.
Anyway, the side that goes down to the metal line under the car (see http://www.mhowland.net/share/images/under.jpg ) had an odd fitting on it (see http://www.mhowland.net/share/images/fitting.jpg ). And the side with the pressure regulator had just a press-on fitting (see http://www.mhowland.net/share/images/fuelrail.jpg.
Anyway, if I put that odd clamp fitting back on, then I'm left with 2 regular style fittings and about 10 inches between them. Couldn't I just get some high pressure hose and just clamp em real good?
--UPDATE--
I guess I'm not the only idiot to try and splice high pressure line ( http://allfordmustangs.com/forums/v6...fuel-line.html ). He ended up going to a dealer and ordering the whole assembly, which I really dont want to do.
