im wanting to go with royal purple tranny fluid but what kind viscosity shoud i use and whats the amount and i have a 2000 mustang gt with a 5spd

you want mercon ATF for the 5 speed and it ends up being about 4 quarts you can take out of the pan. I have the automatic and the best method to re fill it was through the dipstick for the tranny but since yours is a manual, refilling it may be difficult, and you may not want to go with a synthetic fluid because you would be mixing it with a conventional which may cause it to gel...

there is no "weight" is mercon atf.

I think on Royal Purple website they have a search menu and you can pick what you need.

I'm pretty sure it calls for Mercon V (5) ATF but actually GM synchromesh trans fluid works better, good luck.

If your switching to Royal Purple just get the Royal Purple Synchromesh Fluid. I believe it is about 3.3 Quarts.
