Default stupid brake question...

i need brakes but just had them done last year (rotors and pads) my question is

do i need to replace the rotors again? my brakes squeek a little wheni come to a stop so i wasn't sure if this meant i needed new rotors or just pads. i hope its just pads cuz i don't feel like spending more money on it oh and its the rear brakes if it matters. thanks.

look at all of the rotors, run your fingernail across the surface of the rotor, they should have a smooth surface, if the surface has rivets or waves in it, they are scored and you should replace them, but if its a smooth surface to both your fingernail and eyes, then the rotors should be okay!

You can also get the rotors "turned", meaning that if they are scored, or just warn, then they take off a small part of the rotor to smooth them out. However if they are too thin already from being turned... or if they are warped, you will have to buy new ones, but you should always atleast have them turned (O'Reilly Auto, Autozone, Advanced) because it will help the life of your pads, and its safer, especially if they are scored
