Short Throw Install
I've wanted a short throw shifter for some time, but whenever i had the cash laying around, i always ended up spending it on something else... well the girlfriend answered my prayers and got me one for our anniversary! so i've got a steeda triax short throw on it's way (i gather it'll get here by thursday) and i was hoping i could get some pointers from any of you who have done the install already. good points, bad points, what you guys think of it, any helpful input would be great! thanks

RE: Short Throw Install
Its really simple to install. You have to take off the shister ****. Then you take out the plastic and leather boot going around the shifter handle... but be careful, the 12V plug in is still connected to it. You will have to disconnect that. Then there will be another small rubber boot you have to pull off. After that you will have four bolts to get out. After they are pulled then the shifter will lift out. It it doesnt budge then get a flat head screw driver and pry it up. There is silicone holding it down.
After you get it out make sure you remove all the old silicone and apply a new coat just before you sit the new one in. After you laid the new coat of silicone then put the new shifter in making sure the ball on the shifter goes into the cup on the tranny. After you install the mounting bolts then you will have to adjust the stop bolts. Put the shifter in first gear and pull the bolt all the way up till it hits the shifter, then back it off a quarter of a turn and then do the same for second gear. Then tighten the jam nuts. Then finish installing the rest of it. There is no torque for the mounting bolts.
