Sluggish performance?

Do you mean actually BURN rubber ? Or chirp ?
Just wondering because my car will chirp no problem but not actually burn through the gear at all. I've got Toyo's they are pretty grippy tires.

Youve never revved it up and dumped the clutch before? Are you like a senior citizen or something? If If u cant burn rubber with stock tires between 1st and 2nd, there is something wrong.

Hi, please bear with me as I'm new - I've tried to search for the answer but I didn't find it!
About a year ago I bought my first Mustang, it's a 2000 GT, Manual. I've always loved Mustangs and I love it so far, the only thing is I'm worried I'm possibly not getting the performance out of it that I should be. My friend drove it and he said it seemed a little sluggish (he's driven Mustang's before). Then I read something on here and the guy said he can burn rubber in second and his car "throws his head back". Well, mine doesn't do that. I've seen all sorts of pics of guys with smoke pouring out the back of their Stang's, I might be able to do that if I floored the gas and dropped the clutch (never tried). If I had my car "idling" forward in first gear and floored the gas, should I burn out? If so, it doesn't. I'm just trying to get an idea of what I should expect since this is the only one I've ever owned/driven.
Just so you know, I've done the following to my car:
- Replaced spark plugs
- Put in a CAI (K&N)
- Cleaned the MAF wire
- Cleaned the IAC motor.
- Checked for obvious vacuum leaks
- Checked the resistance on the fuel injectors (and checked to make sure they were "clicking").
- Ran a fuel treatment through to clean the fuel injectors.
I'm out of ideas, in my Hanes manual it suggests to check the EGR, but I don't have the tool they say you need.
Any feedback is much appreciated!!
Phil

Well, the tires slip a little here and here if I practically floor it, but like you guys said I guess it is difficult to say what that means depending on the tires. My tires are HORRIBLE when the road is anything other than dry. I dunno, I used to drive my friend's junky '92 Eagle Talon TSI and it definitely gave you that feeling of being pushed into your seat, my car doesn't give you that sensation as much, and GT's are supposed to have more HP and torque than they do. Anyways, maybe I should bring it to Ford and get a compression check done or something.
It's probably not related, but I've noticed ever since I've had the car that as the car gets up to speed you can hear a "hissing" sound coming from the gear shifter, at first I thought it was the ventilation fan or something until I realized I didn't hear it once I came to a stop. I changed the trans fluid and it looked fine, maybe I'm getting road noise somehow? Have any of you experienced this?
It sounds like you have T/C turned on or perhaps your clutch is worn. In my 00V6 I can burn all the way through first and partly through second if I stay on it. If i don't burn them in 1st, I can get a good chirp dumping it into second with the head throw back. Part of it is the driver. I've had coworks that have a V6 and have never been able to do it.
And yes, I have done a burn out where both tires left marks. It's going around corners where I feel the lack of posi-traction or a T-loc.

I've tried turning off the T/C, it doesn't make a difference. The more replies I get here the more I think there is something not right, like my head never gets "thrown back" no matter how hard I drive it. ****, I hope this isn't going to be an expensive fix...
What about that hissing sound I mentioned, anyone experienced that?
