Mach 460
Hi, i have a 03 gt with the mach 460 system. worked fine the first year i had the car but recently it will not load cd's at all. it will display slots full when i press load (there are none in there), and cd error when i press eject. I have tried resetting the unit with no success. any suggestions to fix the problem or am i better off going with an aftermarket head unit?

I have a 2000 GT Conv. with the same system. It is finicky, a lot of times I can not get the CD out. It takes about 15 attempts.
I may just bite the bullet and get a new head unit that is IPOD compatible. No need for CD's any more.
Head units have come down enough to make it a pretty easy choice and with wiring harnesses the installation is pretty easy.

k guys i work for best buy car audio just a heads up its not just as easy as replacing the head unit. it sux cuz. you have to bypass the 460 system. i have a 2000 mustang gt and i had to have the installers do it. there are two amps in the upper part of the truck which takes power from the deck to power the speakers. so pretty much it has to be hard wired. but im pretty sure you can find somewhere on here how to do it if you wanna try it yourself

I installed a good Kenwood eXcelon deck in mine connected to a 40 gig hard drive in the glove box and a 12" MTX in the trunk. Night and day difference from the stock Mach 460 setup. The factory headunit is mediocre at best, the speakers aren't bad though. Set the low pass and high pass so that the bass is being driven by the woofer and it'll sound great
Oh, and the harnesses that work are Metra 70-5519 and Scosche FDK13B
When you're wiring, you'll want to splice in a 7805 transistor to step down the voltage coming out from the headunit so your rear factory subs don't crackle.
Not too difficult, no need to hardwire the headunit the speakers to bypass the amps.
With that said though, I'm about to get new speakers too, the mach speakers still aren't much compared to Infinity Kappas.
