RE: TECH: Gears? The Know-All to 96-04 Gear Questions
So if i will buy a 99 Mustang GT (manual trans) i shall go with 4.10's right?
What gear shall i install if i buy a 96 Mustang Cobra? Also 4.10? Will the transmission will handle that? Someone tells me i "MUST" install 4.30 in a 96 Cobra to get best performance out of it.
Whether car i will buy in the next 2-3 weeks I will pass 0-60 in less than 5 Seconds and reach more than 160MPH (170MPH is my target) after i modd some parts of the Stang.

Ok guys which gear to get for my car
I have a 2001 mustang bullitt, the only mods I have done to the car is a cai, and put some flowmaster 40 series muffleres on it.
I am wondering what gears to put in. I have a manual tranny and have no clue what size rearend I have and what to look for. So any help would be much appreciated. I am knew to the whole mustang world but I am learning. I heard the bullitt is a little bit more beefer than the stock 01 gt but I could have been told wrong.
I was told that there are some significant changes to the bullitt which makes the car a little bit quicker comparing stock to stock. I am not looking to be stock though. I also am using my car as a daily driver also if that helps please shed some light on what gears I should put and a good place to pick them up at........ I seen them on ebay but I dont no how reliable they are there. What you guys think.

RE: Ok guys which gear to get for my car
I initially had 3.73's, but changed to a 4.10. There was almost no difference in gas mileage, but the power off the line was much better. You should have an 8.8 rear and probably have the good old stock 3.27 gears which really suck in 5th gear because at cruising speeds you have to downshift to get it from bogging when you stomp on the gas. You will not have that problem with 4.10's. I cruise in 5th at 70mph at around 2500 RPM. I am running FRPP gears which cost around $189, I had them installed for about $200. Another thing you wil find that will help is a short throw shifter and a chip, which you will have to get anywhere to recalibrate the speedometer.

I want to get the 4.10s for my 2001 GT auto. I have a Jet Performance chip in it. Will that recalibrate the speedometer on its own? Do I have to do anything other that getting them installed? Thanks.
