Diagnostic Problems - BBK
Here’s the story...
I put BBK's LT headers and their catted h-pipe on about 8 months ago. Everything was going fine until about 3 weeks ago when the check engine light went on. I got a diagnostic and the mechanic said that my catts were no longer function properly. I threw P0420 "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold." Strange. BBK says they have a 1 year warranty for their products, if I have the recite. I do. So, I called them up, they gave me a song and dance about how my computer was just adjusting to the higher flow of O2 and now it finally tripped the sensor. Because I am higher flow, would that trip the sensor? Also, I replaced the O2 sensors and nothing changed. BBK told me to get it tuned (which I'm sure will cost me). I want a new pipe (which won't cost me). What should I do?
Thanks.

imho
just get a off road pipe and mil eliminators thats what i run and never get any cel light
i wold get the car tuned anyways.i ran my car for 3 months after i put lt's on only to
find out the car was running super lean cause if the lt's so i was losing a little power
cause if it
long tubes will have a tendency to lean out cars bad sometimes

I have BBK long tubes and a BBK catted h pipe, and have never had a problem. The car already had a custom tune before the headers, and needed no retuning afterwards when they threw it on the dyno. This might be be fixable through custom tuning, but i really don't know. If they'll replace the pipe for free, i'd go that route first and see what happens.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I just have to convince BBK to send me one. The guy really didn't seem like he wanted to help me out. I'll go to the shop tomorrow and see how much it will cost to fix it/see if they can even fix it.

I know others would agree with you, but myself and a bunch of my friends have been running BBK headers, and x & h pipes for years, and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

The heck with cats. No need unless your state does emissions. Just gotta deal with the fumes! Good luck with BBK they were no help with me either. Couldnt even answer a simple question about compatibility of 2 bolt ons....dumb.
