If I'm correct, the lt1 puts out around 285 hp, but the mustang wieghs over 300 lbs less. That would make a pretty even run, if you ask me. Just the other day i beat an lt1, although i'm not completely stock.

stock to stock a z would whooop up on some ponies, i would rather have a z but i hate the way they place the motors in them so that's why i am gonna get a stang. i know a guy that had a stock auto z and his wife had a 4.6 stock 5 spd stang and which ever one he drove the z still won in a race.

I disagree. I ran a LT1 with only welded in flowmasters and a K&N (was on the car when I got it).

Not only was it like the 2nd weekend I owned the car, I had not drivin a 5 spd for over a year, and I had a total of 5 people in the car. I also had the traction control on (at that time I thought it might help)

After the jackass redneck guy in the LT1 (with nobody else in there) went on 1 instead of "go" I still was able to reel him back in to about 1-2 car lenghts thru 4th gear. I wanted to run him again sans the 4 other people, but he said he had to go home and eat his taco bell (no ****).

So not to be a ricer here with all the excuses, but I can definatly see a stock 5spd PI GT beating a stock LT1, espcially an auto (I think his was an auto).

It just makes sense that the stang would beat an lt1, since the lt1 only has 15 more horsepower, but weighs a sh!tload more. It's all about power to weight ratio. I do agree though, that the ls1 will kill a stang stock to stock.

All in all it took a detuned corvette engine to take a Mustang down. Now that Ford has produced the Terminator ('03-'04 Cobra) all the Chevy guys cry that it isnt fair. What isnt fair is that we are lacking 1.1 liters and the addition of a blown motor is more than fair enough. Hence my signiture.

No one believes that I made 276 to the wheels of my GT which is pretty close to what a LS1 would dyno at and that I ran several LS1's and stayed even or pulled. Now that I have a KB Cobra I cant even get into this kind of arguement because "It just isnt fair".

The timing was adjusted through the chip to 14 degrees advanced. I cant remember what else the chip had on it. I bought it from MDValdosta when he went FI but it really helped the car.
