Do you have the tool set up right? It has to push in as well as spin. Make sure that long flat piece on the tool is inside the caliper.

It can be a PITA, I have had to "customise" (grind a bit off the ****) on nearly every "universal" tool I've bought...

Thank you gentlemen. it is done. i had started with the needlenose, so my frustration had already built by the time i went to Advance and got thier house brand universal caliper tool (cube type) - it didnt fit and it had one flat side (no nipples). then i went to the locally owned store and they gave me another cube type with one extra side to it. by this time its almost 4 oclockon my only day off. so i reached out to yall. yup, wasnt pushing hard enough. i braced it against the strut and pushed whle i turned and sure enough, bada bing. thanks.

This is the one I have:

You put the adapter for the piston on one end, and the other has a 6 point for a ratchet. The shaft is threaded and a metal plate goes in front of the front part of the caliper so it makes the adapter push in as you turn the ratchet.

If you get the cheap Autozone brand ones, they usually don't work well. The one I have has never given me any trouble, unless it was a siezed caliper.
