Default front foam piece

Ford put a new front bumper cover on my car and decided that I wanted to wait to put that foam piece on hte front of the car later. So now the bumper is on, but there's foam piece behind it. I was wondering if I really need that piece becuase they said it would be $100 to replace. I'd rather put that towards gears, but if that foam piece is important or potentialy important than I guess I'll get.

if you want to live through a head on collision get the foam peice behind the bumper cover.

The foam has nothing to do with it. It might lighten up the impact but will not change the result. If you get hit head on the firewall is what protects you, not some foam. But if that is what your talking about then get it replaced. Heck, every little bit helps.

all it does is prevent the bumper from getting smashed in too much should it get 'bumped'. has nothing to do with preventing fatal injuries.

This piece of foam is only 3 inches thick. I don't think it's going to save me in any accident. I was wondering if it would save the bumper when I bump draft or something.
