Default Scary Problem...HELP ASAP!!!

I degreased my engine this past weekend. You know trying to be nice to my car. I covered the distributor and the alternator and sprayed degreaser on her. Then I hosed it off and took can air and sprayed all the sitting water off. Then I started the car and let it run for 10-15 minutes up to operating temp. Everything seemed fine.

Two days ago i was driving back to my house from wal-mart and it seemed like when I would push the gas farther than usual it would feel like it was sluggish or sputter. It progressively got worse yesterday and today it was to the point where my CEL came on for about 2 minutes then started flashing at me. Then it went back to being on all the time. It desont really sputter of virbate when I first start rolling but when I give her a little more umph or get above 2nd gear it starts the vibrating sputter.

I know it would be more useful with the code(s) it is throwing. Is there anywhere I can go and have the scan tool run for cheap or free? Any other ideas would be awesome too.

I replaced spark plugs 1500 miles ago along with radiator flush, tranny fluid change, fuel filter and air filter.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Go to autozone and have them pull the codes. Then leave. Dont even let them try and talk you into buying some parts.

You dont have a distributor. You have coilpacks. Just so you know.

Pull a plug and see what it looks like. If you have the tools check your fuel pressure.

I didn't exactly mean distributor but where the wires come together from the coil packs. I will take it to autozone and get the code read tomorrow.

A flashing check engine light means a misfire. I would pull the codes and check your plugs. Probably a bad plug or coilpack.

I just found this on another website,

Got a misfire code on #'s 4 and 5. Put a couple coils in it. The problem still exists. WTF.

Try turning the car off. Unplugging the alternator and then starting it. See if the missfire is still there. (failed diode bridges can cause enough eletrical interfirance to screw up the coils).....If not, check the connections at the coils and injectors.

Are you getting codes P0304, and P0305? Or P0354 and P0355?

Did you replace the correct coils>?? Cylinder #4 passenger side rear cylinder. Cylinder #5 drivers side front.

The best way to test your coil packs is to start your car, put one hand on the fender and one on top of the coil pack and hold it tight.
