Default New here and got a question

Hey guys, my neighbor has a 96 svt with a retrofitted procharger on it. To make a long story short he fried a few rings and birned 2 pistons because he was pushing 11psi of boost on the stock bottom end. We pulled the engine and he had it cleaned up and new forged internals put in. We have been slowly reinstalling the engine back in the car, and got to the intakes recently. In the intakes there seems to be a rod with ball bearings on eaqch end, the rod runs all the way through all 8 chamber, and looks like it lifts little rockers open and closed? We were told this was for emisssions. The mechaninc who used to work on the car pulled the rods out and put a nut and bolt in thier place, and permatex'd them in. Before we reinstall them, we were wondering what the correct fix for this was? thanks alot guys.

and buy the way the car dyno'd at 650 or so horses with water methanol before the bottom end let go. Hopefully now will be pushing over 800hp.

the fact he fried his rings and pistons wasnt because he was running 11psi. its because he was at 650rwhp on the stock bottom end and im shocked it actually survived one dyno run like that. the stock rods on all 4.6's (except the 03 04 cobra) are only rated for 450hp, the pistons are good for a little more.

just some FYI i know he went forged lower end now so thats not an issue but im amazed his motor lasted as long as it did with those numbers.

those arent for emissions they are to promote better low end power and help fuel economy. removing them is good for making big numbers, but he may sacrifice some low end . the manifold has variable intake runners

with a setup like that i would just leave them out. ive seen people weld the holes shut and smooth it out. would be a good time to port the whole intake
