Antitheft causing it not to start?? Help
I have a 2004 40th anniversary. Tried to start my car after work and it wouldn't turn over. Battery was fine, had gas etc..The "theft" light was continuously blinking. The owners manual says if an electronic device got near my remote it could've caused it to not start. Is his true?? My coworker suggested disconnecting the battery? Someone please help me!!! My car is stcuk in a parking garage.

How do you know the "battery was fine"? What you describe is typical of a shorted cell in the battery--did you check the voltage while attempting to crank the engine?
The warning in the manual refers to "Large metallic objects, electronic devices that are used to purchase gasoline or similar items, or a second coded key on the same key chain may cause vehicle starting issues."--all of which have nothing to do with the "remote".

You need to check the battery voltage while attempting to turn it over--it is normal for the Theft light to blink once every 2 seconds with the key off, when it has been "tripped" it will flash rapidly...

I'm not very mechanical at all. My coworker used to work at Just Tires and said that since all the lights, radio, power windows worked that he thought "the battery was fine" I did not check voltage as I don't have the tool. I did notice that one of my battery terminals had a lot of build up. If I check the voltage and it is good what should I try? The manual says is the remote has bene tripped I need to take it to an authorized Ford dealer.

this happened to my 97 gt except mine would fire and start but die right after i took it to my mechanic and he had to have FORD re-program it for $300 and he said it could have happened from being around my cell phone.

Ive had the same problem after not driving the car much.
Batt died replaced batt with new one and the stang fired right up.
But once in awhile my stang still wont start(turns over fine) could it be a key?
Isnt there a chip inside the key that PATS system see s .
I know my corvette has a pellet on the key and the security system read the ohm's in the pellet on key.
Is this the same for Mustangs but the chip or pellet is inside key under black plastic?
