Pick your poison. Summit has the trick flow ones for $9 each. Local auto parts store around me has them for $8. I am salvaging the good ones from a 2V engine that I have.

His noise sounds more similar to mine than yours did. Is there any reason why they would be good when I pull the motor but bad when I started up the new motor.

Yeah, mine was much more extreme since I had 13 bad so far.... Still checking and after I replace the 8 that are bad on the drivers side, I may still have a slight tick. I would imagine that he only has a couple of collapsed one.

Yes, during a rebuild, they loose their oil and the seals can crack and cause leaks. I have had this happen several times before with different cars.

Hmm how hard was it for you to pop your valve covers off with the motor in the car? I imagine the back bolts might be a little difficult to get to

On the 4V, it's easy, there are no bolts in the back. On the 2V, it's pretty easy too, but the back bottom 8MM bolt is a tad tough to get at.

Have you scoped your motor, drained oil or cut open your oil filter for any metal shavings? Next, I would there your motor down and resemble heads, spings, retainers, etc.

I have drained the oil and checked for shavings and didn't find anything. I am going to pop the valve covers off last on this week probably. How hard is it to replace the lash adjusters?

With a pair of needle nose pliers. They just pull right out.
