Hey guys, during the summer I installed a set of FRPP 4.10 gears. I noticed a huge difference in the way it accelerates, but there is a problem. You see everytime I let off the gas and I get back on it, I can hear the gears knock like they're comming back together or something. Now this does not affect the how the car drives, but the knock is getting on my nerves and it's loud everytime it does. I don't know if it's just a sound or if it's hurting my gears. I don't know if I maybe did something wrong putting them in or what. I mean the install went fine with the exception of a few snags. I replaced the bearings and I put in a trac lock kit. The only thing I was not sure of were the shims for the pinion gear. The stock gear had one shim and 3 were too many so went with 2 shims for the new gear. Eventhough it may just be a sound it is still driving me crazy and I still may have something done because it didn't make that sound before and it kind of ruins the experience of driving my car. Any feedback any of you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

what did you set the backlash at? spec is 0.008 to 0.012.

Sounds like the backlash wasn't set right. Mine don't make any noise and i set it at .010 - .012 if i remember correctly.

What do you mean stock had one shim and 3 was too many? How exactly did you shim/measure the backlash and pinion depth? Sounds like a shotty install bro
