Have somebody or yourself go to the back of the car and see if you can hear the fuel pump when you turn the key one position before the engine cranks. You should hear the fuel pump for a few seconds.

Or if the car starts while you're cranking and someone is hitting the bottom of the fuel tank with a hammer you have a bad pump.

You can put a SVT pump in it is a direct drop in.

+1 but you could just keep your door open and you should be able to hear it. At least i can hear mine. Even with the door shut.

Sounds like a sticking IAC to me, BTW replacing the battery does not reset the computer. you can only reset KAM with a scan tool. IAC's are notorious for hard start concerns when cold. take it off and clean it with either spray carb or brake cleaner. make sure you get the chrome shaft that goes inside the solenoid good and clean, thats where they stick.

I was under the direct impression that leaving the battery disconnected for more than a few minutes will clear the KAM. But that's not the issue here anyways. Cold start issues with the tune wouldn't arise unless you had previously altered the tune and it became corrupt.

On to the issue at hand-

If the thing turns over just fine its obviously not the battery or starter.
If it starts when it's warm and not cold, it could be the IAC.
If it is now not starting at all, be it warm or cold- It's commonly the fuel pump as was stated before. Many of the tips listed about hearing it are accurate. If you can, check the fuel pressure on the rail.

Honestly, if you havent replaced them yourself, for the age of the car you should replace the fuel filter hands down, and likely the fuel pump if you can afford it. Im thinking its likely your fuel pump as you suspect.

Good luck!
