I have 42k, and have had my share of problems with it, but all were an easy fix once they found the problem (Coil Pack). But I got a new TC, fuel pump/filter, spark plugs, H-pipe all under warranty. What year are you getting and what is the mileage on it? I wouldn't get anything with over 80k though.

I owned a Linc.MK VIII that had 167000 mi. when it was traded for my GT.It was a great car but it also had some very expensive computers that could go bad.The drive train was in excellent condition with no problems. The MK VIII used the 4 cam engine but the design is pretty much the same. The car was driven to work daily and was not really abused so your decision to buy or not should depend on how the car was treated.Ask the seller how it runs,if they start telling you how it could outrun this and that,be suspicious.See if they're interested in racing, this will tell you something. What level of modification is it at?Who drives the car,a kid,or a responsible adult like me?If the car is at a lot ask to talk to the previous owner, they aren't that hard to find.DO A CARFAX.This won't tell you everything but if it does throw up red flags look elsewhere. There are too many good 'stangs out there to settle for a lemon.Good luck.

my '96 Saleen s281 has 54,000 miles. I had a '93 lx that had been driven from Ga to Wa and back. Sold it in April with 195,000 miles on it and never had a major mechanical problem. (did have a couple of electrical problems though - but nothing that wasn't normal wear)

I got my 2003 GT in February with 45K on it. The girl before me pampered it and drove over 80 miles a day higway on it. It now has 52 and feels as strong as my friend 2004 GT that only has 3K.

Haven't had a single problem with my GT from normal driving.

From abusing it, AKA having fun, I've had a couple issues. Nothing that would have happened if I weren't beating on her..
