Default Do I need a programmer?

Bought a lightly modded 02 Prem. GT in mid Oct. - BBK lowering springs & strut twr brace, Cold Air, 4.10's, SVT anniv. wheels-- Seems to shift fine, full or part throttle. ABS light on, Trac. ctrl light on. Panic stops confirm tire lock. I'm happy Trac ctrl stuck off since I'm in the deep south. The car will bark a mean 2nd when shifting manually, jerking sideways.--- Other than racking up unnecessary miles and no ABS, do I need to expect any issues since the car apparently has no tune? --- I changed out all the ABS fuses under hood and inside. No luck on lights. I've read in the forums its a good idea to get a programmer to solve shifting and dummy light issues. Yet ,my auto seems fine w/ the gears. Just curious, Thanks, RIC

if i had an auto, the first thing i would prolly do is get a programmer. couple guys around here siad its like night and day difference between shifts. of corse, i've got a 5-spd, so im not an expert by any means. you've already got a steady list of mods, do you plan on any other mods down the road that might require a tune?

Yes, I've had the car since mid Oct. Plans are longtubes, O/R x pipe, 2.5" magna flow straight thrus, Eaton posi w/ 4.30's, -3000 stall, valve body, billet 1st, 2nd,3rd servoes. Looking at Max Motor sports grip in box w/ aggresive sway bars, I need to pull the trigger on subframe connects shortly. So 1st-, programmer, subframes. 2nd- shift kit (before rebuild), handling, 3rd- full exhaust. Not necessarilly that order. Start small $$ items first. So what do u think (SCT) 1st and reflash for each mod, or mail it in to "freshin" tune? Do'nt I need to let them know mod list at time of purchase? Will I get desired results w/ SCT 1st, or mod it out then tune? I used Thunder Racing & Futrell Racing here in Louisiana for Tuning while driving (real time on street, tweak, drive again) and parts for my LS 1 build. I've never seen Fords at either place so I gotta find a local tuner for the stang if I go that route. Initial tunes @ $ 450-500, re-tunes $100.00 for my LS 1. So do you believe I can " flash" a canned tune after major mods and get results or do I mod 1st and wait for "canned SCT" or go "custom" & pay for updates? Thanks, Ric
