Default 13" Cobra Front brake upgrade!

Hey guys, I am about to have some brake work done on my 01 GT, I want to upgrade to the 13" Front Cobra brake kit, and I was wondering if I still could retain my stock rotors and calipers if I change my front to the Cobra system? If so, how much would it cost a mechanic to go ahead and install the cobra brakes on the front? How much could I be looking at I found a used set of cobra brakes for $379 2 calipers 2 rotors slightly turned, 2 hoses, and pins and clips. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

Let me get this straight. You want to upgrade to Cobra front brakes and still use the factory rotors and calipers? then how the hell do you plan on upgrading?

Cobra upgrade is just that, a upgrade. Swap rotors, calipers, brackets, lines, and your car will actually stop

Now if you mean you only want to upgrade the front and leave the rear stock, then yes, that is OK. I wouldnt pay anyone to do the job really, its a couple of bolts and a bottle of brake fluid. Get a buddy to help you bleed the lines and your set

I was thinking the same thing but figured I was missing something.

Sorry if I made it seem confusing yes I just wanted to upgrade my fronts, and then I tried changing my brake pads and, I got everything right until I got started the caliper bolts they would just keep spinning could not get the caliper pad off, and i heard you have to have a some kind of clamp to put the piston to push the piston back down! And I heard if you get air in your lines ur screwed! yup alot of uh's and not sure's that why im trying to get someone else to do it hoping they would not charge a ton just for the fronts!

the clamp you need is nothing more than a C clamp available at home depot or any auto parts store for a few bucks. your not going to get air in your lines changing pads. if you do your not screwed, you just have to bleed the system (the only way you'd be screwed is if you were stupid and didnt test them went out and did 85mph down your street only to realize your brakes arent working).

Lol nice to kno, well I really dont have time, and I am unsure about doing the brakes I dont even have the car in my possession right now living in another state and its garaged! So i'll just have someone do it before I return home for just a week! So all in all a cobra brake kit up front and running stock setup in back is fine?

May I direct you to the how-to for the Cobra brake swap:

https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l...k-warning.html

Don't let my work on that go to waste :P

And I'm surprised my pictures for the rear swap are still working, wow!

Edit: Well even if the pictures are still, one of MF's upgrades shortened the max post length, so a lot of that is lost for good. I still remember how it's done, but oh well. Such is life.
