you misread something, sir. if a 5 speed goes 14.0 in the quarter, an auto will go 17.x?

It could be very possible they weren't talking about being 23% slower..

Maybe it was the total power lost through the Drivetrain on an auto.. Makes more sense..

Yes, the 23% power loss was referring to the Drivetrain. From now on, I know I have to be PRECISE with every word here.

and I quote:
"Automatics are 23% slower than a manual." So don't get all snappy like I'm a tard for misinterpreting that to mean that autos are 23% slower.

What did they say the 5 sp. lost through the drivetrain?

Redass02gt By no means was that comment regarded to you. My wording regarding the powerloss/slowness was incorrect. I just got warm being asked was I retarded for that post. Then I simply responded that wording has to be PRECISE on here.

technical terms require precise wording, dude. what did they say a 5sp. lost through the drivetrain? that's the only way to compare.

From what I've read on here, it's about 10% less for 5spds in parasitic loss...

Yea I read that somewhere...... in a book. I like my auto too. I like to turn of the overdrive, then drop it into 2nd between 35 and 50 mpgh and give it full throttle. It'll chirp the tires and ****** your head back just like dropping gears in a 5 speed. Would be a hell of a jump if I had a shift kit..... I have raced and beaten a handlful of "nearly stock" 99-04 5 speed GT's. And by nearly stock I mean like CAI and catback, nothing big like gears or full exhaust or anything...
