Motor Trend showed a one tenth difference between the 05 GT 5 spd and auto in the QM. With technology the gap has been closed.

yes it is.. and being called the gretaes auto tranny ever built by ford as well! Read that somewhere too...

But the 5spd auto in the 05 5R55S, is weak as hell. Seems to be with full bolt-ons and cams it will be maxing out the tranny. Not to mention a S/C with some good amound of boost 8+psi will put past it's capability as well.

In theory, the 4R70w (AOD-E) in the 99+ is at it's limits near 400hp.. You can almost hit that number with full bolt ons and a S/C, if tuned correctly... I still wouldn't run the stock tranny if I was putting that much power to the ground for the simple fact that you want to be well under your tolerances, to ensure reliability..

Then again, with that much power, there isn't much to say about reliability..
