shift kit?
Will it do anything different, is the question. The answer is yes and no. No it will not do anything different, they both increase line pressure and make the shifts firmer and harder. Yes the shift kit actually changes the springs and other things in the trans to mak e the shifts harder/firmer. The predator just use the computer to modift the shift pressure.
I started out with just useing the predator to modify my shift pressure and points and it made a big difference in hoe the car sifted. Then I had the shift kit installed and the difference was greater than just useing the predator. (Before the shift kit was installed I set it back to stock with the predator). I drove around for about 2 weeks then went in with the predator and up my shift pressure a little more and I really like how the car shifts now!!! It really grabs second and third.

As Diver said, they both increase line pressure thusly increasing shift firmness. From the way I understand it, unless you actually re-program your computer, you will not shift any faster with a shiftkit, just harder, the same for a handheld programmer. You actually have to modify your PCM to allow for .00 seconds between shifts. It's set to shift sloppy, so you can't feel it shift. I guess women like it this way....?
Anyway, two things I can see with a shift kit over a programmer is that, the kit "beefs up" some of your internal parts in the tranny, and it also allows you to downshift the car w/o worrying about hurting something. So you can be in the best gear to begin a race, w/o waiting for the car to downshift. Most auto trannies don't like to be manually shifted unless you have a manual valve body though.
I wouldn't run a programmer AND a shift kit to increase pressure, one or the other should do fine.

exactly how do you downshift using a shift kit. Cause if you drop it in 2nd in an auto you still have to manuelly place it in drive after that. I donno, maybe i dont fully understand the concept of the shift kit.
You can manually select your gear that you want. Without a shift kit, it makes this harder on the tranny itself. The tranny will still shift when it's designated to in the computer. Most people do not understand this though. In other words, you're going from a 50 kick, you can put your auto in 2nd and then when you nail it, just shift to D, or OD, w/e. It'll shift when it's supposed to and you started in your powerband. Whereas just leaving it in D or OD would waste time as the tranny would have to downshift on its own before you would begin accelerating.

With the kit coming with beefed up parts, it's just easier on your tranny when you decide to manually put it in a gear.
I'm by no means an expert on this. If someone else wants to chime in, go ahead.
