Default Rattle noise when hauling a!#

Ok last night I was just driving along minding my own business when a pack of fart pipe ricers dicided to pick a fight with me. At first I just mashed the gas in 3rd gear and left there asses behind but then one of them kicked in there nitrous system and caught up to me (That nitrous smelled like shizil), just as he thought he was going to pass me I dropped into 2nd and left his arss behind too, what then happend was, as I reached 6000rpm A desticnt rattle noise came from under the car. It sounded like an exhaust sheild was vibrating against the exhaust system toward the rear of the car. I shifted two third beat em all to the red light and stopped in time. Now every thing went well they excepted there beating rather well with a wave and a thumbs up after they went buy. But Im still curiuos about this noise I have only at high RPM> Any Ideas?, also Is it worth fixing, It justs takes away from the grumble of the v-8 and is some what embaracing. Picture yourselves blowing past a whole clan of ricers with a prenouced FART PIPE EXTINGWISHING rumble, only to find that all the folks can hear as you blow buy them is a rattling POS that is somehow blowing past them while falling apart. LOL! I love my mustang! Lord I apolgize. Anywho; Is there a simple way for me to get rid of this, if I take them off will my car light on fire from the heat? Now that would be cool, rattling buy ricers while lighting on fire totaly a natural american muscle moment. Ill just tell um it was my NOS.

I would think if it was a heat shield it would make that sound all the time. Does it make at certain speeds or RPMs? Sounds like some may have become unbalanced.

It happens when I hit 6000 RPM and It seems like its when I push in the clutch. I know my through out bearing is going bad, but it shure sounded like an exhaust shield because It kinda lingers for a sec. Its only from 5800-6000 when I shift. You may be right it could be something else, Its hard to tell cause sound dont sound normal when your flyin down the road. I am on the verge of some major work including total new exhaust from headers to tips, and a new clutch, Im thinkin I should just take it easy on it, then after I do all the work see If the rattle still happens. Only problem is, that isnt any fun!

Ha! Glad you agree, I love my mustang so much. I've always been a fan of POS looking but hauling a@# cars. Ya those guys probly thought that rattle was there own cars, it was pretty loud. I just get a kick outa my 5000$ rice eater, and they always say "OH those younger guys drive those imports because there cheaper" Well I got news, Im younger and I dont drive an import. Thats just a lame excuse for I wish my car could keep up but since it cant Im gonna blame it on the enitial purchase. And then at the car shows, all the rave "that guy gets 500HP outa that 4 cylinder, How amazing!" You know what else is amayzing...... John Force at 350mph with one of his header pipes pushin more wind than an NFL lineman at a hotdog eating contest. Even in my cars seasoned condition it still puts a smile on my girls face gets good milage and is always running in "clean air". I know what my mustang realy needs is some mirror covers so I dont have to watch the rice popping behind me. LOL! Everyone please make note of that as it will BE my next MOD.

i have rattling too! for me i think it's the clamp that connects the mid-pipe to the extension pipe. i took it to a muffler shop and they spun the clamp around. it's a little better but it still does it once and ahwile. VERY ANNOYING[:@]
