Clutch is thrashed...
So, a few weeks ago I had my car at the shop for some woek, and while they had the engine raised and the tranny removed, they noticed that my stock clutch was really torn up (too many drag passes).
Now, there is a terrible howling coming from the tranny area and when I push in the clutch pedal it sounds like metal pieces swimming around in there. The clutch doesn't slip or smell but it keeps popping out of reverse.
Every time I drive the car, the howling seems to be getting louder each time. Does anyone have any ideas. I don't want my car to blow up, but I can't afford to get a new clutch right now( the kids need new shoes). Any suggestions???

the kids will need to wait, no offense, but trans work costs so you might as well get it over with. An autozone clutch kit will run you about $120, and about $80 for labor.
